John is an incredible teacher! His skillset and knowledge is vast and matched only by his kindness and care. He is generous and honest. I have learned so much from him. I discovered him as a teacher when I was prepping for lab at the Groundlings and he has really helped me understand the structure of sketch and beyond. His video examples are thoughtful and really help things sink in. It's always evident that he really takes time and care with developing his feedback. Overall he has truly really been a HUGE part of my growth and development as a writer. I am so thankful to have found John as a teacher! I am a huge fan!! Take his classes!! Seriously.

I am SO glad I took this class. The idea of submitting to a Late Night show was daunting and this really helped me see where I am in my writing and what to expect. It's exactly what I needed to figure out what path to continue down. Thank you, John!!!

John is a well seasoned sketch writer and comedian. He uses his experience to create a class that feels like a writers room with all students helping pitch and build each other’s work in a safe and constructive space. It was an awesome class, workshopping, pitching, rewriting, and performing different sketch styles. Not a single one of us left there without writing something hilarious.

The Sketch W.R.A.P. class was fun and illuminating, and John was a knowledgeable guide throughout the entire process. His passion and joy for writing/performing created a supportive environment to explore and experiment. John is thoughtful in his notes to improve sketches, and he pitches on your idea, not his idea about your idea, and that makes all the difference in helping develop your unique comedic voice. In short, John Crane is a national treasure!
