Character In Place
Students create, develop and write a character sketch for an "at home" concept (e.g. YouTube Influencer, How-To Videos, Review Videos, etc.). The 6 week course taught by MADtv Head Writer/Executive Producer and Groundlings Main Company Alum, John Crane, focuses on helping students generate ideas that work inside the concept, write sketches, evaluate feedback, and shoot a sketch using a computer, phone or other resource available to the student. best of all, you can view all the sketches here once they're edited!
Write Rehearse And Perform
The Sketch W.R.A.P. workshop introduces comedy writer/performers to the experiences of creating and producing original sketch comedy material for a live performance. The 8 week course taught by MADtv Head Writer/Executive Producer and Groundlings Main Company Alum, John Crane, focuses on generating ideas, writing sketches, evaluating feedback, rewriting material and preparing it for a workshop performance. Students write in a variety of genres and assemble a show that reflects diverse points of view and comedic styles. We learn the value of writing for a cast and how rewriting and rehearsing are used to improve sketches. Along the way, we view and discuss examples from popular sketches all in a constructive, supportive, and playful environment!
